Last weekend we met some friends at Red Bamboo in New York. It's a great spot to take a group of vegans and non-vegans because it's all about comfort food.
We started with several appetizers...Crab Rangoon - faux crab and vegan cheese in a crispy won ton. A lovely concoction of deep fried gooeyness.
Then it was onto the BBQ Buffalo Wings. I've never had a real buffalo wing, but I was told that these were spot on. I must say, I loved the crispy outside, but the inside was a little too foreign in texture to me. And when something is foreign in texture, I assume it's a meat texture and it kind of creeps me out. But...these were amazing, and meat eaters will go crazy over them.
For my entree, I had the Creole Soul Chicken - crispy vegan chicken, panko breaded with cajun seasoning and rosemary, with a hickory smoke vidalia dressing, mashed potatoes and steamed veggies.
Consumed at our table that night, but not pictured above: Popcorn Shrimp, Garlic Fried Rice, Cashew Chicken, Chicken Parmesan + several other entrees that I just can't remember. What I do remember is that everyone was seriously happy with all of their choices.

I LOVE Red Bamboo! The BBQ Buffalo WIngs were the first thing I ever tried there! I had to ask my friends a million times if they were really vegan because the texture was so close. I was a little weirded out too. I've had the Soul Chicken soon and it was really good too :)
I loved Red Bamboo when I visited New York, too! Best cheesecake I've ever had, vegan or otherwise.
Ooh, I want to go there when I visit NYC! I like the look of the Creole Soul Chicken
Yes, they serve Vegan Treats, which I believe make the best desserts ever. Their cheesecakes are beyond amazing. And Mandee - you must try the chicken wings!
