Diego's Mexican Grille

Before seeing Grace (with Paul Rudd, Ed Asner + Michael Shannon) last weekend in New York, we grabbed a quick bite with some Chicago friends at Diego's Mexican Grille. They have a separate vegetarian menu (super helpful) and offer tofu cream instead of sour cream.

I went for the Taco Salad with mixed greens, black beans, brown rice, guacamole, tofu cream, salsa, oil and vinegar. It felt like a very healthy taco salad, despite the deep fried bowl. And the flavors were incredible.
My good friend Susan (also vegan) had the Burrito with...well I can't quite remember what. Maybe she'll chime in in the comments!
I'm always so pysched to discover a restaurant with more than one vegetarian entree. Diego's had at least 10 different options. I would love to point you to their website and their menu, but I just can't seem to find it anywhere. If you're interested in visiting them, they're on 9th Avenue between 48th and 49th St.

Susan here. The Burrito was more or less the taco salad in a whole wheat tortilla. It contained brown rice, black beans, mixed greens and tomatoes. The tortilla was then covered with adobo sauce, tofu cream and guacamole. It was excellent and very filling, perfect fuel to fill up after walking around New York all day.
